Burnley FC ‘Suicide Squad’ sentenced for clash after Blackburn Rovers match

HOOLIGANS from Burnley’s notorious Suicide Squad were to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court today for their part in derby day disturbances more than 15 months ago.

Fourteen men pleaded or were found guilty of conspiring to commit violent disorder when they met up with a pub full of Blackburn Rovers fans following the Clarets’ 3-2 defeat at Ewood Park on October 19th, 2009.

A further eight men were found not guilty of the offence which happened on Preston Old Road near the Station pub in Cherry Tree, Blackburn. The hearing is set to last two days and police are hoping hefty sentences will be handed down to the hooligans behind the trouble.
