Burnley FC in the Community nominated for global award

The shortlist recognises the standout work of organisations from around the world who are creating positive social impact through sport in the most exciting, innovative and inspiring ways.

Nominated in the Sport for Sustainable Cities and Communities category, Burnley FC’s official charity has been selected for more than 400 applications from 100+ countries and is one of only a small handful of UK-based projects to be included in the nominations.

Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer at Burnley FC in the Community said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted at this year’s Beyond Sport Global Awards. We know that our work is creating positive change but to have that recognised on a global sporting platform is very special.

“We started from scratch only four and half years ago. We couldn’t have reached this point – where Burnley is making its mark on an international platform for its community work – without the unwavering support of our partners and stakeholders. A huge thanks to each and every person who has been a champion of our work over these past few years.

“I also extend my congratulations to our trustees and all our staff who work tirelessly at Burnley FC in the Community to make a real difference to the lives of local people. To be shortlisted at this kind of level shows the real impact they are making on a daily basis.”

The 10th annual Beyond Sport Global Awards will be held on September 12th at the One World Observatory at One World Trade in New York City.

Other organisations shortlisted in the Sport for Sustainable Cities and Communities category are; Fútbol Más Barrios - Fútbol Más (Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Haiti, México, Kenya, France), Plymouth Hope (UK, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Mali) and Developing Game-Changing Skills Among Children & Youth in Rural South Africa (South Africa).
