James Buxton, Mark Pate and Neil Sledding of Haffner’s in Keirby Walk had a surprise this morning when Danni Brooke and Ben Owen from “Hunted” turned up at the shop.

The trio are avid viewers of the programme which sees contestants, billed as fugitives, attempt to avoid a team of former police and intelligence officers for 28 days without leaving the UK.

James has been sending weekly videos to the hunters via Twitter and ahead of last Thursday’s episode, the second in the current series, he taunted them alongside Neil, questioning how good they actually are, provoking them into coming out to find them.

In it, James said: “We’ve been on the run for seven days and not been caught yet. I thought you said they were good?”

Neil replies: “They are good, but the Burnley boys are bigger and better.”

This week’s video sees them emerging out of a butcher’s fridge wearing a pair of tights on their head as they attempt to avoid detection.

On the surprise visit, James said: “It was really good of them to drive an hour up here from Cheshire and an hour back again.

“They were so down to earth and genuinely really nice people.

“I’ve been doing these daft videos all through series one and we’re now in series two.

“A customer had just left the shop when they came in filming it. I clocked them and tried to leg it out of the back door but it was locked.

“We got a hoody each because Ben does these corporate team building days so I’ll be wearing mine tonight in front of the TV. It’s made our day.”

The third episode will be aired tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
