A BURNLEY councillor has hit out after 40 posters he put up ahead of tomorrow’s local election were taken down.

Coun. David Heginbotham, who is currently a Conservative ward councillor in Cliviger with Worsthorne, said he spent most of Saturday displaying the posters around the two villages.

But he said he was shocked and angry to find by Monday evening they had all disappeared.

Coun. Heginbotham, who is not standing for re-election, has now reported the theft to police.

“Obviously somebody’s frightened,” he said.

“I think it’s absolutely disgusting, it took me a long time to put them up.

“It’s common theft. Somebody needs to be made an example of for this. Every year some posters go missing but this time they have all gone.

“There could be a backlash to this.”
