Eyevis UK Ltd of Halifax Road, Briercliffe, has installed a £1m. video wall system in Glasgow’s new CCTV control centre for the 12-day Games which begin on Wednesday.

The company provides video wall displays and audio visual solutions with CCTV, security and traffic control and has installed systems in the London Underground, police control centres, nuclear plants and counter terrorism units.

The systems, which will show live streams from 440 CCTV cameras around the city centre, are in a new, multi-million pound Operations Centre which has pooled the use of community safety and traffic cameras around the city for the first time, so controllers have acess to the entire network.

Eyevis UK Ltd was founded seven years ago by Burnley man Steve Murphy, a former St Theodore’s School pupil and Michelin apprentice who said the work highlighted how valuable video wall technology is in helping to keep people safe and give instant updates and information to control room staff. He said: “The centre monitors hundreds of CCTV camera images and important data to provide real time information to the operations personnel, allowing the planning of quicker corrective actions.”

Eyevis UK fits systems all over the world but has stayed true to its roots. Steve said: “I enjoyed a fantastic apprenticeship with Michelin, and I am proud that we have brought two young apprentices, Danny Preston and Sophie Chaney, into our business.”
