CHAMPION cagefighter Rob “C-4 Sinclair” will now face Diego Vital in defence of his lightweight BAMMA crown after his previous opponent pulled out at the 11th hour.
The Burnley native was set to fight jiu jitsu expert Leonardo Santos at BAMMA 7 but the Brazilian backed out over fears he would not make weight less than 24 hours before the bout.
Sinclair (31) will now face Vital, nicknamed “The Animal”, in the third defence of his BAMMA lightweight title at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena tomorrow night.
Just before the 3 p.m. weigh in today BAMMA bosses confirmed that Santos had been cut and the current Adrenaline FC champion Vital had stepped in at the last minute.
A spokesman for the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts said: “Leo Santos was in Paris where he was due to stay last night and fly out but he believed he would not make the weight and would not fly out. We are not happy with him.
“But Diego Vital has stepped up and will be fighting Rob for the lightweight title.”
Rob Sinclair is undefeated in BAMMA and has an impressive record of 10-2 but he will face a stern test in the five-round title match against Vital who only has one loss against Tim Newman at BAMMA 5 by split decision.
Watch Rob Sinclair in action live and exclusive on Syfy (UK) at 9 p.m. GMT and worldwide at www.bamma.com.
