A newly qualified nurse from Burnley is in the running to become the most glamorous girl in the county after being awarded a place in the finals of Miss Lancashire.

Elizabeth Warne (21) will compete against girls from across the county for a place in the finals of Miss England.

As part of the competition she will also be raising money for children’s charity Variety who work with sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

Elizabeth says she is raring to go and is already brimming with fundraising ideas and activities, including an event at Simon Townley Hair where she used to work.

“I want to raise a minimum of £200 but I’m hoping to be able to raise a lot more for such a good cause.

“I’ve never done anything like this before but I felt when the opportunity came a long I just had to take it.

“I would love to change people’s perceptions and show it’s not just about competing but about meeting new people and stepping out of my comfort zone and gaining confidence.

“It’s also a great opportunity to raise awareness of a charity I can relate to.”

The finals of the event will be held on Sunday, October 18th at the Playhouse Theatre in Preston.
