BRUTAL DEATHS: 2 charged with murder

THREE men will appear in court this morning following an horrific double murder in Burnley last week.

Two men have been charged with murder and one with perverting the course of justice following the brutal double killing in Brunshaw which has shocked the whole town.

Kenneth Howson, Daniel Waddington and Lee Howson will appear at Preston Crown Court in connection with the murder of James Atkinson and Neil Gilmore, both 55, who were found battered to death in their downstairs flat in Waddington Avenue, on the Brunshaw estate, last Tuesday.

Kenneth Howson (25), of Williams Road, Burnley, and Waddington (22), of Pine Street, Burnley, were charged with murder. Lee Howson (18), of Williams Road, Burnley, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

All three men were remanded in custody after making a brief appearance before Burnley magistrates on Saturday morning.

They will all make a preliminary appearance at Preston Crown Court today.

A 23-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Burnley, were also arrested last week but have been released without charge after questioning by detectives.
