Brothers in knife-point robbery bid - police release CCTV images

Police have released CCTV images following an attempted robbery in Stacksteads.

The incident happened on Sunday, May 22nd, around 10-10 p.m. when two brothers were walking up New Church Road and were approached by a man who asked them for a light for his cigarette.

One of the brothers offers the man a lighter and the offender then pulls out a knife and demands their wallets and mobile phones but the brothers are able to get away and nothing was stolen.

The offender is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, of medium build, about 5ft. 9in. tall with short, light brown hair. He was wearing a dark blue and white striped jumper and tracksuit bottoms.

The male appeared to have a tattoo which started at the base of his right thumb and travelled underneath his sleeve and he also showed scarring to his right forearm and stomach, the latter he claimed was as a result of having been stabbed previously.

Det. Con. Leanne Lyons said: “I would appeal to anyone who recognises the images to come forward and contact the police.

“Although the victims were not physically hurt, they have understandably been left shaken following their ordeal. I would ask members of the community to look at these images and see if they recognise the offender and if so to contact us.”
