BURNLEY singing starlet Hollie Steel is hoping to have a Christmas hit with the release of her debut single just in time for the festive period.
The 11-year-old 'Britain's Got Talent' star, who lived off Pendle Way before moving to Huncoat with her family, will release a cover version of "Where Are You Christmas", a song featured in her favourite festive film 'The Grinch', in two weeks' time.
Her proud mum, Nina, has described the song as "beautiful" and, although it is yet to be played on radio stations, Hollie is in 11th place in the HMV pre-order chart between big names Alicia Keys and Robbie Williams.
Nina said: "It's a very, very similar idea to the song 'Walking In The Air' from The Snowman. It's a beautiful Christmas song with some quite powerful high notes.
"It starts off really, really sweet but it shows two sides to Hollie's voice. By the end she is singing in quite a strong opera voice.
"The song is from 'The Grinch' and before the Britain's Got Talent thing started Hollie loved it. She's loved it for years."
Hollie recorded the song in October at studios in Kent with record label VVR2 and Nina said she loved the experience.
"Recording the single was really exciting for Hollie. She had lots of fun.
"We're not expecting her to get to number one but her dream is to have a song in the Top 10."
Hollie has signed a two-single record deal with VVR2 and is hoping to secure a contract for her album which is expected to be finished in the New Year.
"Where Are You Christmas" is set to be played for the first time on radio stations nationwide over the next week and will be released on December 7th.
