BRIERFIELD: Mums lead the way in community cohesion work

Brierfield and Reedley mums had a cause to celebrate this week after completing a 10 week community cohesion course.

The project, funded by Pendle Borough Council but run through Brierfield Action in the Community, was the first of its type to take place in Pendle with the aim of building bridges between mum’s of all different ethnic backgrounds.

A variety of events were held during the course of the 10 weeks ranging from exercise classes and drugs education to cookery classes and an internet safety workshop.

Elena Ali, Project Coordinator from Brierfield Action in the Community, said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic and all the mum’s who took part were awarded a recognition certificate.

“The aim was to make it an informal way of learning about each others cultures. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from all groups involved and I’ll be rolling it out again.”
