Brierfield man in custody accused of conspiracy to rape

A BRIERFIELD man has appeared before Burnley magistrates, accused of conspiracy to rape.

Haroon Mahmood (21), of John Street, had his case sent to the crown court, for a hearing on November 21st. He was granted bail by the Bench, on condition he lives in Warrington and reports to the town’s police station daily. He was banned from Burnley and Brierfield, except to attend court or see his solicitor.

The prosecution appealed the bail decision and the defendant was kept in custody pending a bail hearing before a crown court judge.
