Briercliffe gang attack - police issue new witness appeal

Detectives are continuing their search for a man who assaulted a teenager last month.

The incident happened on Wednesday, June 1st, around 10 p.m. when the victim, an 18-year-old man was walking alone along Talbot Street, Briercliffe, when he was approached by four or five men Asian men.

He was punched and kicked to the floor leaving him with serious injuries before the group made off.

The victim has been working with specially trained officers to create an evofit of one of the possible offenders.

The main offender is described as being an Asian male, aged about 19, with a styled beard (Chin Straps). At the time of the offence he was wearing a Black Adidas hooded top with a gold-coloured Adidas logo on the left chest area.

Det. Con. Iftekhar Ali from Burnley CID said, “Our investigation into this offence continues and we want to find the people responsible.

“I would ask members of the public to look at this image and see if they recognise the man. This is a nasty and unprovoked assault that has left a teenager needing hospital treatment.”
