BRIERCLIFFE: Burst pipe at community centre

ALLOTMENTS - Briercliffe Parish Council’s Allotments’ Committee will meet at the Community Centre, Jubilee Street, Harle Syke, at 7-30 p.m. on Thursday. The meeting is open to tenants and the public.

COMMUNITY CENTRE - The bad weather over Christmas and New Year had its effect on the Community Centre when one of the pipes leading to the new boiler became frozen. Quick action by Mrs Christine Stuttard and Coun. Colin Meeks, who acted on behalf of the committee, ensured disruption was kept to a minimum. The centre is managed by a small team of volunteers who welcome the help of centre users to keep on top of repairs, decoration etc. There is a list of officers in the centre, together with details about how they can be contacted, and users are asked to consult this. Otherwise Coun. Roger Frost, the chairman, can be contacted on 01282 435863.

AEROBICS - Isobel’s aerobics and body tone sessions are held at the Briercliffe Community Centre on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. There is a small charge. If you are interested ring 01282 426613 or turn up on the night. All abilities and ages catered for.

APPLICATION - Briercliffe Parish Council has submitted a planning application to Burnley Council for a multi use games area enclosed with a 3m high mesh fencing at Queen Street Recreation Ground, Harle Syke. The application can be inspected at the Planning Office in Parker Lane, Burnley, or by contacting the clerk to the parish council. If permission is given in the next few weeks building work is anticipated in the spring.
