Boy (14) robbed on way home from school - police appeal

The incident happened on Tuesday around 3-45 p.m. in Whittaker Park, Rawstenstall. The victim, a 14-year-old boy, got off the school bus in Haslingden Road and walked into the park to make his way home.

Once inside the park, he noticed he was being followed by a man and, as he approached the bowling green, the man following him put his hood up and chased him. He caught up with him and threatened the boy, demanding he empty his pockets. He stole money, mobile telephone and watch.

The man is described as white, aged around 20 and between 5ft. 10in. and 6ft. tall. He was clean shaven, had a shaved head and stocky build. He is thought to have been wearing a grey hooded top with blue stripes down the arms and black tracksuit bottoms.

Det. Con. Neil Scholes said: “I would appeal to anyone in the area at the time and who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward and contact the police.

“Although the boy was not physically injured he has been left shaken after what can only be described as a terrifying ordeal for. It is important we find the person responsible.”
