BURNLEY could be split in two if new parlimentary boundary changes come into force.

A review by the Boundary Commission for England has proposed radical changes to the numbers of consituencies and MPs.

Under the initial proposals, Burnley is to be split in two with the north of the borough merging with Nelson and the south of the borough taking in Hyndburn,

The plans have had a mixed reaction. Burnley’s MP, Gordon Birtwistle, has said that the split will not affect the day-to-day running of Burnley while Pendle’s MP, Andrew Stephenson, branded the re-organisation daft.
