Born to Dance is a sell-out

Thirty-three acts from Sanderson Dance and Fitness sang and danced their way through four shows for their 14th annual showcase called “Born To Dance”.

Hosted by 2BR radio boss Mr Simon Brierley, the production saw children as young as five taking part in routines from West End and Broadway shows as well as popular musical films.

The first act included 18 performances including a stunning opening by the Master Showcase Team performing to “Pirates of the Caribbean”. The Friday Junior Latin Team from Burnley strutted their stuff to an upbeat Beyonce medley before the audience were treated to “I’ve got a dream” from Tangled by the Infant/Junior Showcase Team.

The Upper and Lower Junior Showcase Teams had the audience singing and clapping to lively versions of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Me Ol Bamboo” both from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”

Another highlight was from the vocal dexterity singing group. They sang numbers from “Matilda” and “Dream Girls”.

Older dancers gave sleek performances from “Footloose”, “The Bodyguard, and medleys from “Burlesque” and “Nine.”

Act two opened with the “The Best Summer ever” from “Teen Beach 2” performed by the Upper Junior Showcase Team before a fantastic upbeat paso doble medley from the Infant Latin Team.

Other highlights included a Grease medley from the Burnley Latin Team, the “Timewarp” by the Lower Senior Showcase and a dramatic James Bond medley from the Master Latin Team. Infants wowed the crowd with their Jungle medley before the Burnley Showcase Squad had the audience clapping to a “Wizard of Oz” medley. The Master Showcase brought the evening to a close with their “Romeo and Juliet” performance before the grand finale.

A Sanderson’s spokesman said: “The 14th annual showcase was once again an amazing experience for everyone involved and is a real team effort. All the dancers and singers have constant support from an army of teachers, parent helpers, other family and friends and volunteers. The success of the show is down to a real team effort and is so successful because it really is a family event. The thought process for the 2017 production is already under way and is certain to once again allow all those involved to show family and friends they were ‘Born to Dance’.”
