A PADIHAM man who was found dead at home had probably fallen causing a fatal blow to the head.

The inquest heard Mr Craig Taylor (46), of Church Street, had been found dead at home by his sister Shirley Finnegan in November last year.

An inquest at Burnley Coroner’s Court recorded a verdict of accidental death.

A statement from Mrs Finnegan was read out in court by East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor which highlighted Mr Taylor’s drink problem. The inquest heard that although he had received help for his drink problems and had at times responded well, Mr Taylor continued to drink heavily which affected his health, in particular his legs.

Dr Zuhair Twaij, the pathologist who carried out the post-mortem examination, said Mr Taylor died because of a blow to the head, most likely as a result of a fall, and was also suffering from cirrhosis of the liver.
