Jamie, who runs the FX Fitness Experience centre in Burnley, has worked with beginners right up to professional Premier League football stars.

The former Burnley Football Club fitness instructor will take readers through every aspect of training, nutrition and race preparation starting with the first part this Friday.

Jamie said: “I have been a personal trainer for six years and a strength and conditioning coach for two years working with athletes and professionals right down to beginners.

“Over the next five weeks we are going to be looking at how people can get started, the first time they go out running and how to tackle hills because there are a few on the 10k route.

“We will look at ‘interval training’ and how help improve your pace and times as well as cardiovascular fitness. The blog will look at increasing distances, running at a good pace as well as nutrition, tapering and getting ready for the day.”

Jamie is currently coaching 30 runners taking on the Pennine 10k including TV personality Jeff Brown towards his £10,000 charity goal.

But he said any competitors can pop in to the FX Fitness Experience centre in Manchester Road for more guidance, advice or training.

The Pennine Lancashire 10K race will set off from the Burnley Mechanics Theatre in Burnley on June 2nd. The route takes in some of Burnley’s best-loved landmarks including Turf Moor, Towneley Park and Rowley Lake and hopes to attract thousands of runners.
