A fire which started in the attic of a Burnley house spread to the property next door.

The blaze started at a terraced house in Jubilee Street, Briercliffe, at 6-45am on Wednesday.

Firefighters from Hyndburn, Nelson and Burnley attended the incident and reported that the house was well alight when crews arrived at the scene.

The firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reels and an aerial ladder platform to extinguish the blaze, which took more than three hours to get under control.

The cause is still under investigation and there were no reported injuries or rescues.

It is thought that property in the neighbouring house was badly damaged in the fire.
