A BLAZE ripped through the roof of a Burnley house last night.

The fire broke out in the loft space of the property in Creswick Close at 7-30pm

Fire crews were called to the semi-detached property after the occupants spotted smoke billowing from the roof and raised the alarm.

Two firefighters tackled the blaze from inside the house using breathing apparatus and managed to bring the flames under control.

The fire damaged roof timbers and slates in the property and ripped a 3ft hole in the roof.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is still on-going but fire chiefs believe it may have been caused by an electrical fault.
