Blaze hits Brierfield takeaway on New Year’s Day

A BLAZE broke out at a Brierfield takeaway on New Year’s Day.

Flames spread through a chip range at the shop in Railway Street yesterday.

Fire crews were called out to the food outlet at around 6-30pm to tackle the blaze.

The fire destroyed the contents of the drying range and the cash till and signage were badly damage by heat.

There was only slight smoke damage to the rest of the premises.
