Billy Blood Drop spreads transfucion message

Staff from NHS Blood and Transplant visited East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust with Blood Service mascot Billy Blood Drop and a variety of goodies and awareness material to help increase blood donation within the local area.

Mary Sokolowski, Transfusion Nurse Practioner at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trus,t said: ”This was a fun visit and Billy Blood Drop attracted a lot of attention from visitors and patients, but there is also a serious message for the public - donated blood is essential for the NHS.

“We are very grateful to local donors for their commitment and hope to encourage anyone thinking about donating to come forward. Please think of the many people that are in hospital and will continue to need blood and blood products. By donating blood, you could be giving someone the best present they will ever receive, the gift of life.”
