Roy Hardacre from Fence has donated £250 to Pendleside Hospice in lie of presents for his 95th birthday.
Roy, who served in the Battle of Britain in RAF 51 Squadron, asked friends and family to make donations instead of buying presents for his big day, which he celebrated with a party at the Carousel Hotel, Blackpool .
Roy said: “My partner of five years, Barbara, who lives over in St Anne’s, organised my fantastic party.
“Over 100 of my friends and family came from Fence, St Anne’s, Spain and Malta to celebrate with me.
“We had a lovely afternoon tea and did plenty of dancing! I gave £250 to Pendleside Hospice and £150 to Richard Peck House in St Anne’s which offers respite care breaks for the whole RAF family.”
Barbara Wright-Hurst, Roy’s partner, added: “We had a lovely day at Roy’s party.
“It was the beginning of a very busy week for us as we went to Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s 90th Birthday Garden Party as Roy served in the Second World War and is the oldest member of his squadron.
“Both days were perfect, thank you to everyone who came and Moving People coaches who transported all our friends and family from Fence”.
