Mr Fishwick has been nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television and Arts award for his hit “Bank of Dave” show.

The self-made millionaire shot to fame taking on the behemoths of British banking when he opened a “tiny bank” in Burnley.

Now the first series of his Channel 4 documentary is up to win a coveted BAFTA TV award at a glitzy ceremony next month.

The Sabden entrepreneur will come up against some big-name shows in the “features” category at the evening hosted by TV personality Graham Norton.

He will battle it out with Channel 4’s “Grand Designs”, BBC 2 series “The Great British Bake Off” and popular ITV programme “Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs” for the prestigious TV honour.

Mr Fishwick missed out on winning a Scottish BAFTA for “Bank of Dave” late last year.

But hopes are that he can bring home the British BAFTA award to Burnley at the glitzy ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall on May 12th.

He said: “We are incredibly lucky to be nominated – it is the UK equivalent to the Oscars.

“We’re very excited for the chance to bring the award back to Burnley but just being nominated for this one is a real game changer for us. I care deeply about the little bank and it keeps bringing me and the team such a lot of happiness.”
