The team at award-winning Burnley hotel the Holiday Inn Express will soon learn if they have fought off competition from across Europe to take the honours in two categories at this year’s IHG (Intercontinental Hotel Group) awards.

Regional general manager Kerian Barnes will be joining Starboard Hotels chairman Paul Callingham and guests from IHG at a gala dinner in Greece later this month when the winners will be announced.

The 102–bedroom Holiday Inn Express is a finalist in the IHG Academy Star Award and the Developing People Award. The Developing People Award relates to the hotel’s outstanding commitment to the development and career progression of staff while the IHG Academy Star Award acknowledges the hotel’s outstanding contribution and support to the local community. Kerian Barnes said: “The hotel has had a successful year and this could not have been achieved without the team’s passion in embracing the training and development available, or without the links with the community projects which enable them to practice their new skills. To be recognised as finalists by IHG in two award categories is amazing.”
