Author Nicky returns to college to inspire students

A Fence author returned to her former college to inspire students and encourage them to follow their aspirations.

Nicky Browne (55) who attended Nelson and Colne College from 1977 to 1979, spoke about her journey to becoming a successful fantasy writer, to A Level and GCSE english and drama students.

Nicky, who now lives in Richmond, spoke about the ups and downs of her writing career and how to capture the imagination of your readers.

She writes children’s books and teen fiction and said: “It has been fascinating to come back to Nelson and Colne College, it has brought back some very happy memories.

Nicky, who grew up in Nelson and Fence, attended Edge End High School, before attending New College, Oxford, King’s College, Cambridge, and Manchester Business School. She has had nine novels published, including her “Warriors” trilogy. (s)
