Armed police were called to a Burnley street after reports that a dog had attempted to attack a man.

A police vet was called to Cairo Street on Thursday and eventually tranquilised the brown Dogue de Bordeaux which was then taken to kennels.

Wendy Gorrie (44) of Cairo Street has been charged with being the owner in charge of a dog dangerously out of control.

She will appear at Burnley Magistrates’ Court on March 15th.
