Appearing before local magistrates

The following people have been dealt with at Burnley Magistrates’ Court in recent days, facing charges including conspiracy to murder.

Michael McLoughlin (56), of Manchester Street, Heywood, was accused of selling fireworks to underage children at a shop in Brennand Street, Burnley. He was not present, but the case against him was proved in his absence. He was ordered to pay a total of £800.81, which comprised a £600 fine, a £60 victim surcharge, and costs of £140.81.

Sarah Louise Bugat (46), of Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, admitted in possession of a knife and a snooker ball wrapped in a glove being in a public place, Crown Point Road, Burnley, on July 31st. She was given a four-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a total of £345, a victim surcharge of £80, costs of £85 nd a criminal courts charge of £180.

Bradley Nicol Dalli (17), of Blandford Court, Salford, was accused of conspiring together with Luigi Dalli to murder Kurt Crawford in Burnley on June 14th. The case was sent to Preston Crown Court for trial on September 23rd.

Brian Fleming (55), of Holmes Square, Burnley, admitted breach of an ASBO by being drunk in a public place in Burnley on September 10th. He was ordered to pay a total of £230, a fine of £30, a victim surcharge of £20 and a criminal courts charge of £180.

Christopher Raymond David Walsh (19), of Moorhouse Avenue, Accrington, was accused of three counts having sex with a girl under the age of 16 in Burnley on or between the dates of January 1st and April 11th. The case was sent to Burnley Crown Court for trail on October 12th.

Andreas Metaxas (26), of Britannic Buildings, Burnley, who had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to driving a motor vehicle on Todmoden Road, Briercliffe, on August 12th while disqualified from driving, was not present and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Charlie Smith (35), of Hollins Road, Nelson, denied driving a motor vehicle in Marsden Road, Burnley, on April 23rd without having insurance. He pleaded guilty to theft after refusing to pay for fuel and two counts of receiving stolen goods.
He was given a eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay a total of £342.66 , comprising compensation of £82.66, and a victim surcharge of £80 .
