The railway operates every weekend from noon until 4pm and also all Bank Holidays and Wednesdays during school holidays.

And the Burnley and Pendle Miniature Railway Society, which operates the train, is steaming ahead with news that it has bagged a £1,000 grant from Tesco. This will go towards a new project to build a new station platform with a third running line.

Hopes are high that the project will now be finished in time for Easter when crowds will start flocking to the park.

The money has come from the Tesco Bags for Help scheme where shoppers are asked to vote for their favourite cause and the railway came out tops in Burnley.

The society is also looking for new volunteers to help operate the railway and if you are interested go down to Thompson Park on any weekend or any Wednesday and speak to a member of the committee.
