BURNLEY-based aerospace company Aircelle is planning to host a huge event that will bring together hundreds of school students and dozens of businesses for a booming careers fair.

The event, scheduled for March 1st next year, has been dubbed “Work Inspiration” and will feature zones within Aircelle’s Burnley headquarters that will be dedicated to sectors such as advanced manufacturing and engineering, construction and sustainability, creative and digital, retail and leisure, business and professional services and public sector.

Geared towards promoting career progression in the Burnley area, it has even been discussed in “The House” magazine, the official in-house publication of Parliament – read by MPs, peers and top civil servants.

Helen Gopsill, Aircelle’s UK HR director, said: “As Burnley’s largest private sector employer with more than 800 employees in the town, we take our commitment to the area and our community very seriously.

“It feels like there’s real momentum in Burnley at the moment. We have great schools, university campuses and some really excellent innovative businesses. With the new rail link to Manchester and work starting on the Weavers’ Triangle, we’re very optimistic about Burnley’s future.

“That’s why we wanted to let young people in the town know what great opportunities there are here. We think Burnley is a great place to live and it’s proving to be a great place to do business.”

In promoting it, Aircelle is supporting the Work Inspiration campaign which is being promoted by Business in the Community (BITC). The aim of BITC’s campaign is to give young people an inspiring first taste of work – work inspiration, rather than work experience.

“We’re urging as many local businesses as possible to get involved in what will be a brilliant showcase for the breadth of opportunity in Burnley.”
