If you think it’s all downhill after 21 then check out this care home resident in Padiham who partied for hours on his 104th birthday!
The party went on all afternoon at Woodside Home last week for Eric Meredith and his friends, family and fellow residents as they enjoyed a buffet and entertainment from a singer.
“He’s extremely fit and healthy,” said Care Home Manager Pauline O’Neill.
“His only disability is his deafness but we use written communication on boards.”
And after years of physical labour in the woodwork trade, Eric can now have his cake and eat it too.
Talking of which, even his birthday cake - decorated with a fondant carpenter with his tools - was a nod to Eric’s years of good health and fitness.
And the hard work has by no means taken a toll.
“I wish I knew what cream he uses on his skin as I’d definitely want a pot of that,” said Pauline. “He looks younger than me!”
And it’s clear the staff have taken a shine to him.
“We’re just so delighted that he enjoyed the party,” Pauline added, “and we hope he will be with us for many more years to come.”
