Blessed Trinity student Luke, then 13, was knocked down on Lyndhurst Road yards from his home as he went to the shop.

Luke has been at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital ever since and has had several operations on the head injuries he sustained in the incident.

Blessed Trinity raised £3,000 at a staff cabaret night to help fund Luke’s on-going treatment and for his parents, Sarah and Ben – who attended on the night – to help with their costs as they have four other younger children Madison, Mia, Lillie and Harlo.

A spokesman at Blessed Trinity said: “It’s hoped Luke will be moved to Blackburn Hospital in the coming weeks which will obviously be much better for his family.

“Once at Blackburn, the plan is for him to spend short periods of time at home.”
