Young artists in Burnley are set to have their own exhibition.
Burnley Mechanics will become a temporary art gallery dedicated purely to the work of young people in the borough.
The young people’s exhibition is the idea of Burnley’s Mayor, Coun. Andy Tatchell (right), who was so impressed by the standard of art work he saw at Burnley College and from young artists at Unity College that he felt they needed their own platform.
He is working alongside Ann-Marie Francis, head of creative arts at Burnley College and Alan Watson, project supervisor at Unity College, to put on the first ever exhibition of young people’s art.
He hopes all the schools in town will come on board and the Mechanics are fully supporting the idea and giving over the new lounge and “Front Room” area for the exhibition in the spring.
Young artists aged 12 to 18 will be invited to submit their works.
