300 to attend ‘Save Marsden Golf Course’ protest

More than 300 protestors are expecting to turn out in force tomorrow morning in the hope of saving Marsden Park Golf Course.

The course, which is almost 50 years old, is under threat in the latest round of spending cuts announced by Pendle Council.

Discussions are understood to be taking please between the Pendle Leisure Trust and the council over the future of the course.

And those discussions will be supported by the protestors, both golfers and local residents, who want the course to stay open.

The show of support is scheduled to start outside the clubhouse at 9-30am.

A social media storm has followed the budget news and a petition to save the course has attracted over 500 signatures.
