BUDDING young popstars from Burnley are being given the chance to win the ultimate prize – singing alongside some of the country’s biggest names in music at this year’s Towneley Live festival.

One lucky winner will also get their single released on iTunes as well as being part of the stellar line-up at the event in Towneley Park on August 13th, which includes chart-toppers McFly, N-Dubz, The Saturdays and Scouting For Girls.

The massive festival is the biggest music event Burnley has ever seen and is expected to draw crowds of up to 25,000.

The best entries will be narrowed down to 40 finalists who will perform live in front of a judging panel of industry professionals later this month at a venue yet to be confirmed.

The winner will be picked up and taken to the gig to coincide with the worldwide launch of their single on iTunes.

Entrants for the competition, being run in conjunction with Towneley Live and Doc Redeye Music must be available for the heats throughout July, for the recording process and Towneley Live event.

The closing date for entries is Friday, July 15th, and the winner will have to sign a contract for a one-single deal. Under-18s must have parental permission to enter.

Mr Steve Reid, of Doc Redeye Music, said: “This isn’t about one person winning, there’s a lot of talent in Burnley that we know about. But it is the chance for one lucky winner to perform with the biggest stars in the world.”
