Pendle Hippodrome Theatre Company take on ‘The Producers’

One over “The Hill” to Pendle Hippodrome Theatre in Colne, and one over the “footlights” to take on the leading role of Max Bialystock in the company’s production of Mel Brookes’ hilarious musical “The Producers”.

Howard has produced several shows in Clitheroe over the last few years including “Chess” and “Oklahoma”. He will be joined on stage at the Hippodrome by other “Oklahoma” cast members, Mike McKeown, who played farmer Andrew Cairns, and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School teacher Catherine Cox, who was a dancer.

“The Producers” is the tale of Broadway producers Max and Leo who recruit the worst writer, director and actors they can find to stage their production of “Springtime for Hitler – A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva” which they intend to be a one night only flop. It is all an elaborate scam to swindle $1,000,000 from little old ladies who will finance the show.

The Pendle Hippodrome Theatre Company has done the complete opposite to the stage plot and recruited some of the best, if not the best talent in the area to stage the show. “The Producers” will have an award winning multi-talented cast including Howard, Mike and Catherine and is regarded as the funniest musical ever written. It has everything from zimmer frame tapping old ladies to squawking pigeons and will have you rolling in the aisles.

The show is being staged at Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, New Market Street, Colne, from Tuesday, March 29th to Saturday, April 2nd at 7-30 p.m. nightly with Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

Tickets are adults £10, concessions £8, children £6 on Tuesday evening and Saturday matinee. On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings adults £12, concessions £10, children £8.
