Padiham Triathlon sign switching - prank or insult to athletes?

Padiham Triathlon was thrown into chaos when a sign directing runners to the finish line in Padiham was switched - and most of the field headed the wrong way into Rosegrove.

After already completing an arduous swim and cycle trek, the athletes were unable to claim their prizes and organisers of the event were left fuming.

But was this a simple prank that has caused amusement to many or should it be taken more seriously as an insult to the athletes and organisers who put in hours of hard work.
