Anne Dolman landed the catch of the day at the Whitby Angling Festival.
Sea fisher Anne claimed the £5,000 first prize - after years of trying to win the event - last weekend as she reeled in a 10lb Ling.
Anne, of Printers Fold, beat off opposition from Shirl Newsome of Whitby, who also had a Ling of 9lb 5oz, and Blackburn’s Gillian Austin, whose Ling weighed in at 8lb 15 1/2oz.
Come on all you Canal anglers, now is the time to get big nets of roach from the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
Bait up a few days previous with hemp, then fish hemp on the hook - you will be surprised at the quality of roach around Burnley town.
You have to tough it out and keep trying different depths, but eventually they will appear.
If you fancy a different approach, try ground bait, 50% vandene hinde supermatch with 50% super lake.
Riddle this fine and any few bits discard, add squats or pinkies and fish the same on the hook, no bigger than size 20s.
All Pendle lakes are producing a few nice fish.
The river stretches are in good order too.
Season tickets are £33 for adults at local tackle shops, or if you want to just try it out, £5 on the bank for each rod.
