Where can you pay £6,000 for a house on our doorstep?

According to latest figures, one house in Chapel House Road, Nelson, was snapped up for just £6,000 earlier this year, topping the list for the cheapest properties sold in the last 12 months.

The postcode area BB11 in Burnley also featured among the top eight places with the cheapest house price for the period up to the end of August, with one property going for £9,000 in November 2014.

In areas of Pendle, covered by the BB9 postcode, there were 190 sales of properties for £50,000 or less in the same 12-month period while in the Burnley areas of BB11 and BB10 the figure was 125 and 121 respectively.

The statistics show the value of homes in Burnley and Pendle is considerably lower than the national average, which now stands at more than £200,000.

According to data analysed by the Daily Mirror, central Burnley is also named the second most affordable place to live in the country, with the average house price being £39,500.

Little Marsden and South Pendle feature fifth and sixth on the top ten list with South Rosegrove, in Burnley, and the Bradley area of Pendle in eighth and ninth spots.
