The Minister will meet representatives of PEARL, the joint venture company run by Pendle Council and local contractor, investor and developer Barnfield Construction.

He’ll also meet MP Andrew Stephenson and Pendle Council Deputy Leader Coun. Tony Greaves, who are supporting the lobby for Government funding, supported by County Coun. Jennifer Mein, Leader of Lancashire County Council.

Coun. Greaves said: “This visit is very timely.

“Planning applications are already in for a hotel and an activity centre for Northlight and councillors will make a decision on them in February. We’ve had a lot of encouragement and half-promises from the Government.

“If this project is to go ahead we really do need them to come forward now with some hard cash.”

The masterplan for Northlight also includes a canal-side marina and pub and plans for state-of-the-art retirement apartments are under way.

Mr Clark will also see the new housing development at Quaker Heights and Holden Road while in Brierfield, both major projects of the PEARL company.
