Beer festival to open at Pendle pub

A 19-DAY beer festival will take place at The Wallace Hartley, in Church Street, Colne, from Wednesday until Sunday, October 23rd.

As part of the festival, the pub will serve five American cask-conditioned beers - Kalamazoo Black Silk (Bells, Michigan), Sandiago Session IPA (Stone, California), Cascadian Dark Ale (Blend, Oregon), Yakima Sun (Fat Head, Ohio) and Ninety Shilling (Odells, Colorado).

The five American beers are being brewed in the UK by their respective brewers to their individual recipes.

In addition to these, the pub will serve up to 45 beers from across the UK, including the Governor (JW Lees), Ginger Beard (Wychwood), Horse Rustler (White Horse), Old Crafty Hen (Morland), Pudding Porter (Tring), Vapour Trail (Salopian) and Brother Rabbit (Thornbridge).

The UK beers include those brewed for the first time exclusively for the festival, speciality beers with interesting ingredients (including fruit, spices, honey) and beers no longer brewed, but resurrected for the festival.

All beers will be priced £1.95, and customers will be able to sample any three beers in special third-of-a-pint glasses for the price of a pint.

Pub manager Rebekah Walker said: “The festival will give people the opportunity to enjoy a superb selection of American beers not usually available in the UK, as well as wonderful beers brewed closer to home.”

Rebekah added: “The festival promises to be great fun, and I am certain that customers at The Wallace Hartley will enjoy themselves.”
