Finishers cross the line in Rosemere’s lockdown marathon

An invitation to take part in a lockdown marathon for Rosemere Cancer Foundation was taken up by a 68-strong field, which raised £333.30 for the charity.

All participants ran, jogged, walked or cycled individually from home, achieving the 26.2 mile distance in stages when outdoor exercise was limited to an hour a day.

They had a maximum of 30 days from Monday, April 6th, to complete their marathon and were rewarded with a rainbow ribbon medal and a certificate sent through the post.

The marathon was organised in conjunction with the Central Lancs Running and Triathlon Club (CLAN).

Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria being treated at the region’s specialist cancer treatment centre, Rosemere Cancer Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, and at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties. The charity funds cutting edge equipment, research, training and other cancer services and therapies that the NHS is unable to afford.
