Stairlifts and mobility aids in Burnley
A local firm which helped the NHS tackle hospital over-crowding in the pandemic has expanded to help deliver top-quality service to its customers in the community.
Jay-Care Stairlift and Mobility is a family-run Burnley business which has always put its clients at the heart of everything it does.
“Nothing is too much trouble,” says managing director and owner Paul Anderson. “That might sound cliched, but it is true. Our entire business is built around doing the right thing.”
And that ethos became a literal life-saver during both lockdowns, where Paul, who runs the business with his trained occupational therapist wife Louise, started operating seven days a week with teams on a shift rota to help support the local hospitals and councils, as well as its regular local customers.
The firm’s role was to help facilitate hospital discharges as quickly as possible, to free up beds and services for Covid cases; this also ensured vulnerable patients were safely at home and not at greater risk of infection by being kept in a busy hospital.
Paul said: “I am immensely proud of what Jay-Care achieved during this period. We had already begun to expand in 2019 but we increased our hours and our unit space to cope with the demand. We’ve had a phenomenal three years. We are a firm which does the right thing for the right reason and does it all the right way.”
And whether that’s turning around an urgent request within 24 hours to help someone in genuine need, to popping the bins out for an elderly customer while they are on a house call, all the Jay-Care team has a passion for supporting people and putting the customer first.
Paul has been in the industry for over 35 years, was born and brought up in Burnley and is very proud to be serving his local community.
Choice of mobility aids
Jay-Care primarily supplies and fits stairlifts, which in urgent cases can be installed the next day if off-the-shelf products are available, or within a month for custom-built systems such as fitting around a curved staircase.
It also provides a range of other mobility aids and services for people with additional needs of any age.
He added: “It’s a misconception that only the elderly need what we provide. None of us know when we will need extra support in our own home, and we’d like to think people remember Jay-Care, and our commitment to helping when we are needed.”
As well as supplying and fitting stairlifts, the firm also provides scooters, manual and powered wheelchairs, chairs, beds and products to help with daily living and personal care.
While the easing of lockdown volumes now means the retail unit is back to operating a standard five days a week, Paul and his staff are available out of hours by appointment.
