The refurb, which will include a drive-thru Burger King, is estimated to be costing in the region of £1.5m.

Although external work is currently being carried out on the Manchester Road complex, the cinema will be open throughout the entire process.

The work includes the redevelopment of the foyer, new seating, new side lights in the auditorium, a complete refitting of the toilets and new carpets and flooring throughout.

Manager Andrew White said: “We are currently on schedule to finish the full build before the school summer holidays in July and Burger king will start internal build soon.

“In between we do have lots of external building happening and would like to let the customers know that we are still open all the way through the build even though the outside looks like we are not.”
