Cupcakes and collages in Nelson exhibition

Two young local artists with very different ideas and inspirations are exhibiting at the Cross Street centre until Wednesday.

Sophie Gibson (23), from Burnley, said: “The work featured in the exhibition takes its form in collage dealing with throw-away society and corporate selling culture.

“I’m not sure what inspires me, maybe it’s seeing all theses brilliant images being published, discarded and then encouraged to be recycled. I suppose I just recycle in a different way.”

Charlotte Hannah (24), also from Burnley, says she takes her inspiration from food, fashion, nature, love and religion.

Her mixed media work includes images of cupcakes, ribbons, bows and flowers.

Entry to the exhibition is free and opening hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
