Could you be the next Billy Elliot? Auditions

Following the success of the Billy Youth Theatre 2010, the producers of Billy Elliot the Musical have announced that Fame School of the Arts from Preston has been chosen to take part in the second year of the countrywide scheme offering schools and youth groups the chancey to stage their own production of this award-winning show.

Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall and with Martin Koch (Musical Supervision and Orchestrations) have adapted their original script and orchestrations to produce a shortened version of the show for groups staging local productions as part of the project. Billy Youth Theatre 2011 will involve participants from schools and youth groups in England, Scotland and Wales, and to performers aged 10 to 19. With more than 3,000 young people taking part in separate productions staged nationwide, Billy Youth Theatre is truly a nationwide event. Fame School of the Arts from Preston is delighted to announce it will be performing its Billy Youth Theatre production locally on the week beginning May 17th at Blackpool Grand Theatre.

To support local productions, the directors of the participating groups will be given an opportunity to come to London in December to take part in a weekend workshop led by the award-winning team that brings Billy Elliot to life each day on the London stage.

Between May and June next year, selected productions of Billy Elliot from around the country will be invited to perform excerpts from their productions at showcases held at major regional theatres. The Billy Youth Theatre 2011 will culminate with selected groups being offered the chance to follow in the steps of Billy and perform at the Billy Youth Theatre West End Gala at the Victoria Palace Theatre, Billy’s London home, in July.

Lee Hall, who conceived the idea behind Billy Youth Theatre, said: “I was overwhelmed by the response to our first Billy Youth Theatre. The level of energy and commitment from everyone involved was exceptional. I hope we can repeat the excitement and enthusiasm in our second year, we are looking forward to getting started.”

Fame School of the Arts is a new Triple Threat Academy in the heart of Preston who specialise in training the North West’s talent of tomorrow. With a focus on Street and Hip-Hop, as well as acting and singing, Fame School of the Arts offers something unique to Lancashire. With auditions open to everyone, Fame School of the Arts is looking to create an award-winning cast of local talent!
