Christmas trees, cribs and angels at St Peter’s Church, Burnley

BURNLEY’S parish church of St Peter’s is preparing to hold its sixth Christmas Tree Festival.

Last year the church added Christmas Cribs to the display and this year it is including “Angels” to ring the changes.

The festival will run from from Thursday, December 8th to Sunday, December 11th, between 10 a.m. and 4-30 p.m.

Thursday morning is Kidz Korner (mother and toddler group), Thursday afternoon for quiet viewing, Friday all day will be a variety of crafts, some to watch, some to take part in, plus a flower arranging display.

Saturday will be a family fun day, with visits from Father Christmas and Bertie Bee, the Clarets’ mascot, in the morning, along with Christmas craft activities and a train playmobil.

Entertainment is also arranged – a concert in aid of the Help for Heroes charity on the Friday evening, by the South Pennine Singers starting at 7-30 p.m., ‘Simply Sax’ saxophone quartet on Saturday, around lunch time, and on Saturday at 7-30 p.m. the Lancashire Sinfonietta Orchestra will perform by candlelight. There will also be organ music for Christmas each day.

A Christingle service will take place on the Sunday at 10-30 a.m. and the Masonic Carol Service at 2-30 p.m.
