Barrowford Show is on Sunday!

Barrowford Show remains as popular today as it did nine decades ago and this Sunday is going to be no exception with heaps of family fun promising a memorable day out. Young and old are expected to flock to the sites that spread over Barrowford Park, Bull Holme Playing Fields, Barrowford Cricket Club’s and Swinden Playing Fields when the show kicks of at 9 a.m. on Bank Holiday Sunday and the crowds descend on the four adjoining sites to enjoy abundance of entertainment until 4-30 p.m.

The day sees a host of must-see attractions and displays with everything from stunt acts and live fire displays, to clown entertainers and stilt walkers, to dog agility and, back by popular demand, showjumping.

Horticulture classes make a welcome return and see flowers, vegetables, fruit, cakes, jams and bread among some of the categories with entries still accepted on the day.

Show organiser Maria Midgley said: “We have got a lot of new items following on from last year’s feedback and Sunday looks really exciting with something for everyone. We have got a lot of support from Burnley Football Club who are bringing along Bertie Bee as well as inflatable entertainment for people to get involved with. Local singer and Higham Rose Queen Nicole Talmer will perform in the Main Ring following her performance at Towneley Live and she is one to watch!

Make sure you roll up to the Main Ring where there is something going on throughout the day including music by Nelson Brass Band, the Derby Midshipmen carnival display band and Supreme Jazz wandering jazz band.

Other highlights include the vintage car, motorbike and wagon exhibition, Pendle slot cars as well as the popular falcon displays and much, much more.

Burnley Football Club will bring their entourage, including the Clarets dance team.

Test your archery skills with the Bowmen of Pendle but maybe it’s wise you do that before you have a drink in the beer tent where every hour on the hour you will be able to bet on a horse race.

Children will be able to get involved in the numerous competitions including the eagerly-awaited fancy dress, dancing and bonny baby competitions all of which can be entered on the day - so make sure the little ones are looking their best.

And why not get your pets involved too by entering them into the categories - Most Unusual, Best Pet Rabbit, Dog with Waggiest Tail and Dog with the Best Trick as well as plenty more children’s categories. Tickets are available on the door priced £5 for adults, £3.50 for children and pensioners and £12 for a family ticket (two adults and two children) and under fives go free. Please note the Pendle’s Got Talent Competition has been cancelled.
