100 Santas take part in charity pub crawl in Fence

A SLEIGH full of Santas descended on one village to take part in a huge charity pub crawl.

Onlookers in Fence could be forgiven for thinking Christmas had come early as almost 100 people dressed up as St Nicholas in aid of Pendleside Hospice.

The flock of Father Christmases started off at the Sparrow Hawk following onto The Swan, Fence Gate and ended up at the Bay Horse.

This was the third year the event has taken place and helped raise £1,050 for the hospice.

Fund-raising manager Christina Cope was delighted with the turnout at the event.

She said: “On behalf of everyone at Pendleside I would like to thank the organisers Kevin Kelly, Martin Cheetham, Steve Anderson Howard Hartley and all the Santas, everyone who donated and the pubs who made this event such a success .”

The money raised will help the hospice provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
